Am 9. und 10. Februar öffnet die Hochschule für Künste Bremen ihre Türen im Speicher XI in der Bremer Überseestadt. Studentinnen und Studenten aller Studiengänge präsentieren ihre aktuellen Arbeiten und Semesterprojekte und eröffnen allen Kunst- und Musikbegeisterten faszinierende Einblicke in Kreativität, Vielfalt und Können an der HfK Bremen. Zu sehen und zu erleben sind Malerei und Installationen, Design und Mode, Raumkonzepte und Bildhauerei, Zeichnung und Illustration, Filme und Videokunst sowie Musik von Klassik bis Jazz.

Für das Erscheinungsbild der diesjährigen Hochschultage zeichnet sich das Büro NAMENAME – allesamt Alumni der HfK – verantwortlich.

Critique 2013 aims to provide a forum that will to bring together engaged professionals and scholars from various disciplinary backgrounds, fields of knowledge, production, and methodological approaches to discuss and debate the role, value and future of both traditional and emerging forms of critique; such as, written critique in the form of blogs, wikis, and social media, to newsprint, to academic journals; opinion versus critique; verbal critique; relationship between critics and creative practitioners; designed artefacts as critique; and curated exhibitions as critique. Specifically, this conference aims to explore the following three broad categories of critique:

a) *Critique* in *design education* and *creative practice* (verbal & visual, all forms)
b) *Self-critique* in *design education* and *creative practice* (reflective practice)
c) *Critique* through *creative works* of *things/ideas/policy/ in the world* (design as research)

We invite contributions from a broad range of disciplines that are concerned with the creative and professional practice of criticism including, but not limited to; design, the fine arts, architecture, interior design, industrial design, urban planning, craft, media, performance, music, exhibition curation, museology, philosophy, education, journalism, and governance and policy.

The following themes are a guide for contributors to *Critique 2013* to consider:

· *Advocacy & Brokerage* – the role of the critique of government policy and regulatory authorities by design brokerage organisations.
· *Journalism* – the role of the critique of design in newspapers, magazines and professional journals.
· *Social Media & online Commentary* – the role of critique through social media (Twitter & Facebook) and other forms of online, or technologically-mediated commentary.
· *Opinion vs Critique* – the changing relationship between public opinion and objectively informed critique in creative practice, design education and the public; language, accessibility, gatekeepers to taste, shock jocks.
· *Illustration* – the role of critique through satire, analogy, or metaphor, as a means to comment on design and culture.
· *Drama & Film *– the role of critique in narrative commentaries
· *Music* – the role of music in critically engaging in narrative commentaries about historical and/or contemporary cultural practices.
· *Reflective Practices* – roles and methods of self-evaluation by creative practitioners in creative practice, higher education, and doctoral models.
· *Design critique in higher education* – pedagogies and education practices in engaging peers and students in oral and written critique.
· *Exhibition Curation as Critique* – the methods and role of critique in visual arts exhibition curation.
· *Post-critical theory* – the role of critique in/of creative works that are un-critical.
· *Judgement* – the methods and role of critical judgement in theorists such as Emmanuel Kant, Jacques Derrida, Manfredo Tafuri.
· *Critique through Creative Speculation* – the methods and role of speculative design projects as critical devices to discuss, problematise and theorise upon potential alternative techniques, paths, and/or futures.
· *Other* – anything and everything that considers the nature, effect and affect of critique.

Submissions

We invite papers that offer new or challenging views on the subject of critique in the creative industries. The selection process will be subject to a double blind review process by an international peer review team.

Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted by 31 March 2013. Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to submit full papers (4000-5000 words including notes) by 31 July 2013.

Auf dem Festival für neue Verbindungen zwischen Kunst, Kultur und Technologie “transmediale” wird am Mittwoch (30.01.2013) über Depletion Design diskutiert. Erschöpfung als Basis neuer Gestaltungsfelder.

In Kultur, Umweltaktivismus und Politik ist die Rede von Erschöpfung – Depletion Design sieht im Begriff der Erschöpfung eine Möglichkeit, über die Entstehung neuer sozio-technologischer Formen und Verbindungen nachzudenken, und über die Grenzen einzelner Disziplinen und Politikfelder hinaus nach neuen Allianzen und Potenzialen zu suchen.

Uns geht die Zeit aus: Es bleibt, so heißt es, keine Zeit, Alternativen zu einer neuen Politik des Ausnahmezustands zu entwickeln, denn die Dauerkrise hat die Mittel einer Repräsentationspolitik erschöpft. Sie ist zu langsam für den Ausnahmezustand, zu unwissend in Bezug auf die tatsächliche Verteilung politischer Macht, zu fixiert auf die Reparatur von Finanzarchitekturen. Doch in diesem Zustand ständiger Erschöpfung, in dem wir zu leben, lieben und arbeiten gelernt haben, und in dem wir uns fragen, was es eigentlich heißt, uns selbst und einander am Leben zu erhalten, entstehen bereits neue individuelle und kollektive Handlungsformen. Für solche Wissensformen kann es (noch) keine Enzyklopädie geben, ein Glossar aber durchaus.

Soenke Zehle und Carolin Wiedemann diskutieren Depletion Design mit Marie-Luise Angerer, Jennifer Gabrys und David M. Berry, und laden transmediale 2013-Teilnehmer dazu ein, gemeinsam über die Notwendigkeit nachzudenken, den Menschen als eine Spezies unter vielen wahrzunehmen, deren Existenz auf der Interaktion von Medien, Organismen, Wetterlagen, Ökosystemen, Gedankenmustern, Städten, Diskursen, Moden, Populationen, Verstand, Märkten, Tanznächten und Bakterienaustausch beruht (Angerer); über materielle Reste von Elektronik, die ein Umdenken provozieren und zu neuen, weniger ausbeuterischen Praktiken im Umgang mit Materialien ermutigen (Gabrys); und über Fluchtlinien von und durch Informationstechnologie, hin zu einem neuen Urteilsvermögen und einer neuen Politik (Berry).

ADM 2013 conference papers will be published in ‘Key Engineering Materials’ which will be indexed by SCOPUS, EI Compendex and other major abstract medias. The special session is organised by the consortium ‘Ecolights’, a project for market deployment of eco-lighting products, sponsored by the European commission CIP Eco-Innovation Programme.

Das Verb “to rehearse” / ”proben” wird zumeist mit Theater, Tanz und Performance assoziiert. In Verbindung mit “collectivity“ / „Kollektivität” werden darüber hinaus auch soziale und ästhetische Aspekte thematisiert, die in Zeiten von Occupy-Bewegung und Bürgerprotesten neu definiert werden. Der Reader Rehearsing Collectivity dokumentiert das gleichnamige, interdisziplinäre Projekt, das 2011 in der Tanzfabrik in den Uferstudios Berlin stattfand. Die Beiträge von Künstlern und Schauspielern, Mediaenaktivisten, Theater- und Architekturtheoretikern haben dabei einen Raum geschaffen, diese Begriffe zu „erproben“, erfahrbar zu machen und zu überdenken.
