Product Development Symposium 2016. Technical University of Denmark. 20.09. – 23.09.2016
The Product Development Symposium is an opportunity for industry delegates to gain insight into the advances in engineering design and product development research and practice.
The symposium is organized in four topic focused days, which are of strategic importance for danish manufacturing and product development:

Motivation for Disruptive Conceptualization Day
Disruptive conceptualisation can be achieved by goal-oriented mapping of user context or utilisation of knowledge about radically different solution principles. The conceptualisation day offers new input from companies that identifies with new product opportunities, which have been identified through an active dialogue with users together with case stories of disruptive development, where new products and technologies have been developed through inspiration from nature.

Motivation for Product Architectures Day
Product architectures (PA) have during the last ten years gained increasing interest from both academia and industry. There is no doubt that implementation of PA has the potential to significantly reduce time to market and time to money. The transition from current way of working, to Product Architectures is however very difficult. The Product Architecture Day will present state of the art theory and practice in the area.

Motivation for Robust Design day
While the principle benefits of robust design are widely accepted, there is still a large gap between robust design in theory and in practice. DTU’s annual Robust Design Day therefore aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners focusing on applied Robust Design and Variation Management in Design and Production. The objective is a regular platform for discussions and a fruitful knowledge exchange on experiences, solutions and challenges faced.

Motivation for Sustainable Product/Service-systems day
The current industrial shift from selling products to providing Product/Service-Systems (PSS) drives new business opportunities and sustainability improvement. The Sustainable Product/Service-Systems Day aims to bring researchers and practitioners together and establish a platform for discussions and a fruitful knowledge exchange on experiences, challenges and opportunities.

These areas combine skills and knowledge at the core of engineering design whilst introducing advanced methods and tools which are leading on an international level.
