All applicants are expected to have solid general theoretical and practical knowledge of design, interior design and interior architecture. The applicant should have special knowledge and experience in two and three-dimensional free hand sketching, visualization, representation and presentation techniques both manually and digitally. He/she should have extensive expertise on common programs used for visualization. The position includes theoretical and practical teaching in the Bachelor and Master programs, which are partially interdisciplinary.
The applicant is expected to contribute actively to the further development of the Interior Design Department and the Faculty of Design, and carry out administrative duties at the University. Job responsibilities also include the academic cooperation with other programs and partners within the BAU Global Education Network.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Applicants must fulfill the requirements for professorships at universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulen) in accordance with the Berlin Higher Education Act, §100. (http://gesetze.berlin.de/Default.aspx?vpath=bibdata%2Fges%2FBlnHG%2Fcont%2FBl nHG.P100.htm). The respective evidence and documents need to be attached to the application.
• At least 5 years of practical experience out of which a minimum of 3 years must have been outside of the university context.
• Substantial occupational experience outside the university sector should include years of project experience in all phases from the conceptualization to the realization of projects.
• Teaching experience. Applicants are expected to be experienced in a combination of lecture driven and project-based teaching.
• Preferably a PhD, related to the area described above. Or alternatively a body of research, publications, competition entries and/ or practice evidencing a professional standard comparable to a doctoral degree. In case the candidate holds a PhD, the degree transcript should be attached to the application.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
• Very good English language skills (teaching language) additional language skills are welcome, especially German.
• Intercultural experience, awareness and competence (preferably from earning university degrees or working experience in different countries).
• A strong interest in contributing to the continuous growth of BAU International Berlin.
• Sound knowledge of the German and Berlin higher educational system.
